|Next Season >>|
It was the first foray into a different category of racing for Really Rubbish Racing. F1 2011 allows up to 16 players which allows for team mates. There was be 8 teams of 2 drivers. Smifaye took the drivers title in the last round for Black Raptors Racing.
The races took place on Sunday evenings at 8pm UK time.
The championship started on Sunday 9th October, just a few weeks after the release of the F1 2011 game. It was the first time in Really Rubbish Racing history that more than 8 drivers will be able to compete at the same time. The grid was formed of mainly RRR regulars with a few new racers joining as well. Season 1 champion RumblyLizard teamed up with championship organiser Smifaye, the pair drove for the Black Raptors Racing and were in the FW33 car. The pair have been testing buddys for a while but this was the first time as team mates. Original 8 member, Tomcheesey drove in the VJM04 and originally teamed up with OpenedAutumn58 who had yet to show his full potential only racing a few times in the Really Rubbish Racing Touring Car Championship. OpenedAutumn left the championship after Round 5 and JayCoops took his place for Feta Motorsport. RRR fan favourite Bookoi drove in his local team's car, the MVR-02, he shared driving duties for his Pudding GP team with RRR new boy Butler258. Quick boy and Season 2 champion, FlavouryRug drove for BDGP with STR TommyB. New team Cross Channel GP announced that they signed debutant Spearkofi and Superdelphinus, as they battled for glory in the F150 Italia. Another new team, the Swedish SRM GP Team with young guns RareDevil666 and LewisWDC11 fielded two MP4-26. SpyroTechnimata had an all-rookie line-up with Icthyes and VettelS driving a RB7. Dan Thorn joined after the 4th round and took the spot of VettelS after his funding fell through.
Tyre degradation is activated, as is fuel simulation. Flags are on reduced. All stewarding decisions take place after the race and drivers can be disqualified, given a time penalty, or even banned from further participation in the championship. Weather is on dynamic meaning there is a possibility of wet weather races.
DRS, or Drag Reduction System, is implemented within the game. There are specific DRS zones for each track. To activate DRS the following driver needs to be within one second of the driver in front. DRS is not activated for the first two laps of the race. Please remember the combination of DRS and a healthy slipstream will create a massive overspeed so please ensure you allow for earlier braking than normal. DRS can be used throughout qualifying. DRS is not activated in extreme wet weather for safety reasons.
KERS, or Kinetic Energy Recovery System, is also implemented within the game. KERS can be used at any point throughout the lap ensuring you are above 60mph.
Pirelli will be providing the tyres. There are many different compounds available, super-soft (option), soft (option), medium (prime), hard (prime), intermediate and full wet. In a dry race drivers will be required to use both the option tyre and prime tyres. If the race is wet then drivers do not have to use both compounds.
It has been announced that the safety car will be in F1 2011. The safety car will pick up the leader of the race and will reduce the speed of the pack until the track is clear. This is available online so there is a possibility it could be deployed during the season. Drivers need to ensure they don't fall ten car lengths behind the driver in front and to not overtake until the safety car line which is usually before the last corner on the circuit. Once the safety car has been cleared to leave the track, it is the responsibility of the leading driver to bunch the pack up. Extreme acceleration and braking is not permitted. Drivers are welcome to weave to get heat into the tyres but please be aware of other drivers around you. DRS will not be enabled until two laps after the safety car has pulled in. The computer should control your car if you get too close to the driver ahead, but as we know games don't always work the way they should so please be aware.
When defending a position on track drivers are not permitted to make more than one move to defend. Drivers are not permitted to move in the braking zones. Cutting corners of the track are not permitted and should be punished by the ingame penalty system, repeated corner cutting will result in a time penalty or disqualification from the event. If you go off the track please ensure you rejoin the track safely as to not cause a collision.
In qualifying please be aware of drivers on a fast lap, please ensure you stay well off the racing line even if it gets your tyres dirty.
- Traction Control is not permitted
- Anti-Lock Brakes are not permitted
- Brake Assist is not permitted
- Racing line is not permitted
- Manual gears is optional
- Pit stop assists are permitted
The grid will be determined by a 15 minute qualifying session. The top 10 drivers must use the tyres they set the fastest lap on. If the session is wet then drivers may start on whichever tyre compound they like.
Races will 50% which will take about 45-50 minutes to complete. Pit stops will be mandatory and you will have to use both compounds of tyre unless it is a wet weather race.
